4X4 Brakes & Rotor Upgrades

Great brakes let you stop on a dime

Your 4WD comes with safe, reliable brakes from the factory. And for a factory car they hold up quite well. But the truth is most cars on Aussie roads are not factory – we fit bullbars, trays, dual battery setups, fridges, roof racks, big tyres, and rock crawlers. The weight we add to our cars make the brakes life a lot harder than the factory had in mind.

The original brakes your vehicle comes with are prone to longer stopping distances under the load of accessories and tend to suffer from ‘brake fade’ – a phenomenon where the heat generated by repetitive braking reduces the friction of the pads and the firmness of your brake pedal.

We’ve helped plenty of Penrith locals take their brakes to the next level, with full rotor, brake line, and pad overhauls. Our brake upgrade kits not only give you better performing brakes but much more confidence from the improved pedal-feel and extra stopping power.

Frequently Asked Questions

Upgrading your brakes can significantly improve stopping performance and reduce brake fade, especially when your 4WD is loaded with accessories or used for off-road adventures. Factory brakes may struggle to cope with the added weight and demands placed on them.

Signs that your brakes may need upgrading include longer stopping distances, reduced brake pedal firmness, and increased brake fade, especially under heavy loads or during aggressive driving.

A brake upgrade may involve replacing brake pads, rotors, and brake lines with high-performance aftermarket options designed to withstand increased loads and provide better stopping power.

We can. Stainless braided lines replace the rubber factory hoses that flex under pressure, so fluid pressure reaches the caliper instead of ballooning in the line. Result: a firmer pedal, less travel and more control when you are crawling downhill on rough tracks.

Upgrading brake pads can improve stopping performance, reduce brake fade, and enhance pedal feel. High-performance pads offer better heat dissipation and friction characteristics, providing more consistent braking performance under various conditions.

Upgraded rotors are designed to dissipate heat more effectively, reducing the risk of brake fade and improving overall braking performance.

They may also feature improved cooling vanes or slotted/drilled designs for enhanced heat dissipation.

In most cases, upgrading your brakes should not void your vehicle’s warranty, especially if the components are installed correctly and do not cause damage to other parts of the vehicle. However, it’s always best to check with your manufacturer or dealer for specific warranty information.

Yes. Bendix 4WD pads use a ceramic-enhanced, heavy-duty compound that bites quicker than standard pads and keeps its friction at temperatures 100 °C higher than OEM material. You gain shorter stopping distances when the ute is loaded as well as quieter operation thanks to factory-fitted shims.
